Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai to Archbishop Margaret Idahosa on her 75th Birthday Celebration at Le Meridian Golf Resort, Uyo

I nursed the idea of honouring Archbishop Margaret Idahosa in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, for the following reasons:

  1. She is the first female Archbishop of a recognized Church
  2. She is the only woman whom I have heard sing the song: I am what I am by the grace of my husband…
  3. She treated me with respect anytime I visited Benin while Archbishop Idahosa was alive.
  4. She had ro leave her seat for me when I go to Faith Arena. It takes a woman who knows herself and believes in herself to move from her seat without grumbling.
  5. I was one of the dissenting voices when she was going to ne consecrated an Archbishop of CGMi. Today, I know that te choice to make her the presiding Archbishop of CGMI was a profuctive choice.
  6. Both Archbishop Idahosa and I were rated the most troublesome men of God. Both of us were banned from preaching on NTA.
  7. WHATEVER MEN CAN DO, Women can also do same. She is a proof. She has beaten my expectations. Let us learn how to believe in our daughters. They can do better than our sons.
  8. I never saw a man with so much love for other leaders, in a generation that slanders ams blackmail those who threaten our popularity.

If you can’t celebrate others, no one will celebrate you.

  • He has fed my crew of 45 persons some time ago, that kept me wondering how rich he was.
  • A week after he died, we met in my dreams everyday for one whole month.

  • It is required that we love one another.
  • Only in our unity can we be united and command respect..
  • Forgive one another no matter the hurt. Let us love one another.

  • Margaret, keep keeping on. They are people who love you beyond the geographical location called Benin City. Men of God in Uyo LOVE YOU!

It Is For A While (Divine Visitation) – Archbishop Margaret E. B. Idahosa

I do not know how people can live without Christ for 24 hours, but I am glad I am a child of God, I am washed by the blood of the Lamb!

  • We were once nobody, but Jesus reach down and said: You are better than this!
  • We have a testimony…we all have our stories and that story is the best story.
  • God may do without me, but I cannot do without Him. We need Him always.

  • We have just celebrated 50 years of existemce!
  • …and we are still counting!

It is better to make history than to read history!

Twenty years ago, our father Archbishop Benson Idahosa left us, and we are still here!

  • Twenty years have past, fifty years have past, it is time for us to sit down and strategize.
  • What is that thing that made us weather all the storms?

What is that driving force? What is that thing that will see us standing for the next 20years?

  • What is the why? There is a drive! At 75years, the future of CGMI is not in me!
  • Will CGMI still be relevant?
  • Will CGMI be able to stand the challenges ahead?
  • How much are we evangelising now?
  • How hot are you in evangelism?
  • How important for you to tell someone about Christ?
  • 20 years have past! What will be my pary dor the next 20 years.
  • There is no you without Christ!

  • Whzt will you show God when He returns,
  • God believes in me
  • I am His heart in this world
  • I am his earz to hear the cries of the lost
  • I am His eyes to see
  • This is why we have not gone under. It os a task He jas given to us and I am one of them.

  • There is no old age in evangelism. God is still with us.
  • Prepare to preach the undiluted word. Let the fire of evangelism burn within you.

1 Peter 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

  • Whatever problem you have is for a limited time
  • As long as we are in this world, trials, pains, reounle turbulence will come, but it is for a while!
  • I don’t know how long you have faced that challenged, it is for a while!
  • Lord this thing that has been holding me bound, now I know that you have called me and the devil cannot hold me bound. IT IS OVER TODAY!
  • Whatever that has exceeded a while, has no reason to be there!
  • It is over today. The while is over!
  • Get out of ,y job, spouse, children and let me be established.
  • Settle me God, the scriptures cannot be broken

Psalms 30:5 KJV
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

  • The favour of God is over you!
  • The while is over!
  • Weeping may endure for a moment! But joy comes in the morning!
  • A night is just 6 hours, but morning is longer!
  • Morning comes to strengthen you and establish you!
  • Father my tears may last for a moment, my problem may last for a night, but if I endure, healing, upliftment and breaktheough comes in the morning.
  • 1Corinth 10:13 KJV There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
  • No temptation comes from the blues.
  • From that same problem, God will make a way of escape.
  • When trials comes, ask God: WHERE IS THE WAY OF ESCAPE?

There is no problem, trial or sickness that is there to stay. It is ended today?

  • Shoulder pain, waist pain…known evil partterns in your family…it is for a while. Tell God it is for a while!
  • It is for this reason Jesus died on the cross!
  • Every pain that has caused suffering…
  • Every incantation againat your career, ministry, womb, you have overstayed your welcome. Get out!
  • Every stomach pain…tonight, it is over in the Name of Jesus
  • Tonight I build a bulwalk of defence around you.
  • Your husband/wife will find you.
  • No temptation is permitted aeound you again
  • Thank you Lord a release of healing, businesses, jobs, miracles in the Name of God thw Father, Son and Holy Ghost

The Father’s Business – Bishop Suny Faith Ugbah.

Luke 24::22-30 NKJV

24 Now there was also a dispute among them, as to which of them should be considered the greatest. 25 And He said to them,“The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those who exercise authority over them are called ‘benefactors.’26 But not so among you; on the contrary, he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who governs as he who serves. 27 For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves.

28 But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials.29 And I bestow upon you a kingdom, just as My Father bestowed one upon Me, 30 that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”

  • Greatness is a function of service, committment ans dedication.
  • The reason God left us here is to build the kingdom.
  • 1 Corinth 4:2 NKJV Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.

  • Hebrews 3;1-2 NKJV Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, 2 who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house.
  • Christ discharged His services faithfully.
  • Moses too was faithful.
  • Psalms 92:12-15 NKJV

The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those who are planted in the house of the Lord
Shall flourish in the courts of our God.
    14 They shall still bear fruit in old age;
They shall be fresh and flourishing,
    15 To declare that the Lord is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

  • To be planted in His house means that God Himself located us where we are,
  • The resources for the work where He has located us is already in OUR HANDS.
  • God has planted us here and if this work must flourish, it is in our hands already?

If this church would experiemce growth, it is we that will make it happen.

  • If 90% does not solve our problems, 10% will not!
  • There cannot be growth in the work without financial committment.

  • Soul winning is another vital aspect. Iron sharpens iron.
  • Look out for each other when they are abssnt from service.
  • Church growth is every member’s responsibility. This is Christian stewardship.
  • It is our father’s business and we must go about it passionately.

Thank You -Bishop Sunny Faith Ugbah

John 6:11-13 NKJV And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. 12 So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.” 13 Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.

Luke 9:16-17 NKJV Then He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude. 17 So they all ate and were filled, and twelve baskets of the leftover fragments were taken up by them.

1 Thess. 5:16-18 NKJV Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

  • The secret of overflow multiplication is thank you.
  • Thank you is the simplest form of practising gratitude.
  • At every point in your life, there is always a reason to say thank you.
  • Thank you for our spouses, careers, jobs, acadenics, etc.
  • If you have life, learn to say Thank you!
  • The reason people struggle with giving os because they are not thankful.
  • When you are thankful, it ,eans your tank os full!

  • If you were the best in school, many best students are still jobless!
  • Acts 27:33 NKJV
  • 33 And as day was about to dawn, Paul implored them all to take food, saying, “Today is the fourteenth day you have waited and continued without food, and eaten nothing. 34 Therefore I urge you to take nourishment, for this is for your survival, since not a hair will fall from the head of any of you.” 35 And when he had said these things, he took bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all; and when he had broken it he began to eat. 36 Then they were all encouraged, and also took food themselves.

Thank you means you acknowlege your dependence on God

  • For His divine protection and providence.
  • You are alive because He kept you!
  • Anything you dom’t appreciate, you belittle!

It is unto every man, according to his perception.

  • How can you go without God?
  • It in Him we live, move ans have our being.
  • THANK YOU LORD!!

  • except a man os born again John 3:1-3
  • To be a full believer of Christ, you must be born again. You ,ust leave the old attitude, character and come to a new life.
  • A man without the word of God in him is not fully baptized of the spirit.
  • Jesus said to the Samaritan woman…if you knew who is requesting water from you…
  • She confessed thereafter that she had seen a man who knew everything about her!
  • In Ezekiel, the Bible says it is the spirit of God is what enables man to live a new life in Christ.
  • The saint is the one no power o earth can touch. He may be going through turbulent times, but God is able to make all grace abou d to him.
  • Revelations14;12-13 KJV
  • Anyone who does not walk in God’s commandment is not a Saint

  • A real Christian will go through tribulations, whether we like it or not, but one thing is sure, you will not be moved!
  • We must be instant in prayer.

Make Room For God, Dismantle the Walls – Bishop Sunny Faith Ugbah

Ephesians 3:20 NKJV Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

  • God suspends the natural laws and sequence to do what He has to do as God.
  • God is not limited by what we can figure out. This is why it is called a miracle.
  • The greatest disservice you can do against yourself is to limit God.
  • God is not limited.
  • Our understanding is not a measure of all God can do

  • Never get to a point where you give up hope and believe you are finished. You are not finished.
  • Don’t have an attitude that blocks the miraculous. God can still do beyond our expectations.
  • Walls may be
  • Family background
  • Fear of the unknown
  • Doubts
  • Past experiences
  • Ignorance
  • Past experiences
  • Fear of inadequacy
  • Unforgiveness to self and others
  • Fear of failure
  • Pride

5 Major Walls That Must Be Dismantled to have an OVERFLOW.

  1. Walls of Cynicism – critics, fault finders of people’s motive. They do not belive people can do anything without personal gain. They do not elieve people can serve God without a selfish gain. Peoplr are unable to make progress in church because they suspect other people’s motive. (Job 1:8-11). This is the devilish spirit! It must be shunned. No man can attrack what he attacks.
  2. Wall of unbelief and doubt. The prophetic word came, but the man on whose side the King leaned, did not believe! Mathew 13:54-58. Unbelief hinder your walk with( God, (Mark 1614)
  3. Stingyness. It manifest in different ways (Proverbs 11: 24-26). Money in the hand of a pastor is offering. Money in the hand of any person takes the person’s form. (2 Corinth 9:6-7, Luke 6:38, Malachi 3:10-12) the measure of the prosperity of the church, determines the prosperity of His people.
  4. Fear (2Timothy 1:17, Romans 8:15, Luke 19:20-24). This is worst than decease.
  5. Spiritual blindness: (Luke 24:16, Isaiah 42:19-20) many cannot hear or understand. (2 Corinth 3:16-17) when you run to Jesus, He pulls the veil out of your eyes. In the lives of tere is no fresh encounter or revelation from God, they remain as critical, carnal, same circle of friends, non challant.

Their minds are shut against the word of God

Ephesians 1:15-23 NKJV

Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ whenHe raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.

22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

  • The church is not a place of class and cliques.
  • If you understand these promises, you will stop fearing their fear, make bold declarations!
  • Luke 24:30-31 NKJV Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.
  • Every wall the enemy has erected is destroyed in the Name of Jesus!
  • Walls of sicknesses, tradition, unbelief, doubts, fear, limitations, poverty, stagnation, losses, be broken in the Name of Jesus!
  • You are not excluded in the redemption package of Christ. Let that stronghold come down now in the Name of Jesus!
  • I prophesy you into your destiny!
  • You shall experience overflow in your witnessing, businesses, careers, nothing can stop you again because the walls are levelled in the Name of Jesus! Amen.

Zechariah 2 :1-5 KJV

I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.

2 Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.

3 And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,

4 And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:

5 For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.

  • There was no longer anything comely of Jerusalem. The the Lord showed Hezekiah a vision.

  • The walls of limitation are scattered in the name of Jesus.
  • We shall enlarge financially, numerically, in signs and wonders in the Name of Jesus.

For I, saith the Lord, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.

  • Why are many not able to experience this glory?
  • Many have built round themselves, walls of division, envy , strife, doubts, unbelief quarells.
  • Whatever is hindering the glory or fire of God in the life of any member is destroyed in the Name of Jesus!

  • God you are not a man to loe. That which you have spoken shall come to pass.
  • Whatever the wall- walls of strife, envy, class, etc whatever is the wall that the people cannot partake of God’s glory, we destroy iypt in the .Name of Jesus!
  • Walls of death is destroyed in the Name of Jesus
  • Romans 8:2 KJV For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
  • We declare as a church tonight that we shall not die but live.
  • This year we shall shed tears of death or be called upon to bury anybody.
  • We receive life as a church in the Name of Jesus.

Labour is good, but grace is better

  • Lord help us to succeed by your grace.
  • Release your grace Lord by your spirit.
  • The grace to succeed in our careers, families.

It is a lie from the pit of hell that we cannot make it.

  • Lord you are the way maker, ovean divider
  • Lord promote the career men and women in our midst.
  • raise great men in this congregation.
  • Mark 5:21- KJV

21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.

22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,

23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.

25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,

26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,

27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.

28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.

29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

  • Lord we take our miracles by interuption.

Meeting of the Registrar with Heads of Units.

Opening Prayer Mrs. MFON UDOM 12.05pm

  • The Registrar welcomed every head of Unit.
  • He said the reason for the summons is as a result of an urgent need for advices required almost on a daily basis
  • He said he received a memo that has to do with recovery of debt from guarantors for staff on staff development.
  • He wanted the heads to brainstorm and streamline our approaches to staff development.
  • He had no idea of staff on stagf development within and outside Nigeria as same appeared to ne shrouded in secrecy.
  • A case in study was a staff-administrative staff- who went on staff development, then turned it to special leave that lasted for a long while and a day after the Registry review, she sent in a letter resigning her appointment with the University.
  • The memo from Personnel on the case was to the effect that the resignition should be accepted.
  • The Vice-Chancellor has directed that the appointment of the staff should be terminated, but he us of the opinion that due process should be followed and she should be imformed that the resignation is unacceptable, request her to give the normal three months notice or 3 months salary in lieu of notice.
  • He was of the opinion that many embarked on the stagf development with the intent of never returning to the University.

To profer a way out, the heads were requested to give suggestions.

Mrs. Mfon Udom

  • She said the reason for recommemding the acceptance of the resignation was because she had been on a special leave without pay for two years, and having not neen paid for two years, the issue of refunds did not arise, in their reasoning.
  • She wanted to know if the refusal was because she had not given the required three months notice
  • The guarantors of all defaulterswere to be written to , and their names had since been given to the Bursar.

Mrs. Edak Umondak

  • Most of the problems were on staf who had benefitted from the stagg development anout 4-5years ago.
  • Most of them did not read or understand the terms and conditions of the staff development bond.
  • Most of them had no idea theor periodic reports had to be forwarded to the ujiversity from their supervisor on demands,
  • We may have to brief beneficiaries as they receive their letters of awards.
  • The Unit does not have trainned staff. Only one staff is an old hand and is not steady on his seat on health grounds.
  • Recourse will have to be made to records for a proper picture of all staff.
  • The unit does not have a comprehensive list of ataff on staff development.
  • The Staff Fevelopment committee is an experiemce i norrowed from UUTH, but there is much work still to be done, as staff almost close to the age of retirement.
  • Can someone who is 50 years be granted staff development? Will he finish on time to serve out the bond?
  • We need to see how strong the bond is and if same is enforceable in court.
  • The case of one Mr. Imo Sampson Essien whose guarantors were called up to pay the bond sum. Mr. Essien had appealed in a letter that the guarantors should not ne surcharged. He agreed to take the responsibility to offset the sum.
  • She mentioned that the admun staff under reference did not go on staff development.
  • She had gone to join her husband on staff development who she claimed was ill and needed surgery.
  • She was granted special leave and she later applied for staff devlopment and it was approved.
  • There was need to work on the xompilation of staff on stagf development.
  • She requested for a skilled secretary and the one posted is not properly skilled for the volume of work envisaged.

Registrar

  • There was need to develop a data for all staff on staff development.
  • There was also need to work with ICT to develop a Template
  • Dorectorate of Training was carved out of Personnel and so both habe access to staff files which will enable them have information on the age of the staff
  • There may be need to place age limit for staff development for 55years. The Director of Training Was to bring up a paper in this regard.
  • The proposed data should notify the University when someone has overstayed in his staff development, beyond the 5years maximum, and thereafter, the liability of the guarantor should be considered and the guarantors notified.
  • It was also discovered that Mr. Essien had a none Univesity staff as his guarantor. There was need to have to specify the level or position of a University staff that can guarantee any staff going on staff development.
  • There was need to bring in inbuilt policies that will forestall the exploitation of the university.
  • Personnel will raise a paper that will form a policy in that wise.
  • If the termination is put on the University website, it will help people to sit up.
  • For the young man who after his staff development went to ABU without serving out his bond or paying back. ABU has agreed to debit his account ,onthly, the sum of N50,000. This will take a very long time to recover. A letter should be written to ICPC for the recovery.

Barr. Udoibit

  • On the issue of staff development, i have serbed on a number of panels where defaulters were investigated and recommendations made to Management. He had no idea if such panels were still set for defaulters.
  • The bond form and award letter should be reviewed.
  • Where the University is overstretched, there is nothing wrong in seeking refress in court for bonds made under oath.
  • There are provisions in the Staff Conditions of service can be invoked to terminate appointments in events of default.

Registrar

  • It must also be stated in the policy paper that guarantors must be below the rank of Associate Professors, not beyond the age of 65 years.

Mrs. Iniobong Odejimi

  • On the Template which will alert Managemnt whe pwersons have overstayed their staff development, Staff Training should have such records.

Registrar

  • The letters to guarantors of defaukters should be written immediately and such letter must xontain timelines for making refunds.
  • A letter was to be written to Mr. Essien, giving hi a time frame to mzke good his promise, thereafter, we debit the guarantor if he fails to make payments within the specifoed time.

Mrs. Umondak

  • In giving the time frame, are we looking at their positive response?

Registrar

  • A maximum of three months should be given as the University does not seem to be having memories.

Mrs. UMONDAK

  • Essien should be informed that he has not indicated the rime for payments

Registrar

  • The guarantor of the staff who absconded to ABU, his guarantors should also be called to make the refunds.

BRIEF WRITING

  • We are gradually becoming sentimental in our brief writing.
  • There are issues regarding wrong salary placement in 2010, 2011 and 2012 . We must be uniform in our recommendations in the brief.
  • We are also going back to 2003 and 2008 to recommend people for appropriate placement. This has already generated some problems.
  • All errors should corrected generally, not notionally for selected staff.
  • The Head of SATS is sometimes very emotional in his writings and people have begun to quote him.
  • Briefs should be written with files. I am reluctant to supercede letters. All previously distributed copies must be with withdrawn.

Mrs. Mfon Udom

  • Where cases were approved before my assumption of office, we treated them without knowing they will request for financial benefits to their promotions earlier denied.
  • Many staff have been queried based on errors made for more than 3 months.

Registrar

  • It should be confirmed the limit of time within which complains would be entertained based on the Public Service Rules
  • Briefs should be properly written as the Registrar has towork on volumes of documents on a daily basis.
  • Some menos like leave forms can be handled by Directors.

Stop Building Walls -Bishop Faith Sunny Ugbah

  • There is a mindset that builds walls.
  • Walls are not just the physicsl walls we see.
  • Any man who wants an overflow must change his mindset
  • No man who wants an overflow builds walls of limitations.
  • Have a mindset that can break all limitations
  • Zechariah 2:1-5 NKJV Then I raised my eyes and looked, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand.

2 Then I raised my eyes and looked, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand. 2 So I said, “Where are you going?”

And he said to me, “To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its width and what is its length.”

3 And there was the angel who talked with me, going out; and another angel was coming out to meet him, 4 who said to him, “Run, speak to this young man, saying: ‘Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls, because of the multitude of men and livestock in it. 5 For I,’ says the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’ ”
